Great scenario for a novel. But NOT the scenario we were led to believe our (finally duly elected) President Obama would follow.

Nelson Mandella was in prison for, what? 16 years? By that logic, Bradley Manning will be President of the United States after the 2028 election. He’ll get my vote, if I live that long.

Bradley Manning. No trial, no conviction, but harsh punishment, indeed torture, in order to break him before his trumped up trial. His jailers even have to break their own rules to do this to him. Those in charge and those who cooperate with their orders shame the uniform they wear and the oath they take to uphold and defend the constitution and protect this country. Manning’s treatment flies in the face of the 8th Amendment against CRUEL AND UNUSUAL PUNISHMENT.

Is anyone out there upholding that silly old Constitution? Certainly not Quantico personnel, not the US Army controllers, not Pres. Obama who is too busy hosting an anti-bullying summit at the White House. Will he tell attendees that he understands bullying, not because he was skinny and hid big ears, but because he approves of the way that Private Manning is being tortured right beneath his nose?

Why aren’t media talking about secret information released? It’s information that reveals war crimes by US military, yet nothing is done to investigate or punish those criminals, just Manning who allegedly blew the whistle.

Are these the end days of our democracy?

If not, why not?

That means we all “aid the enemy” by paying taxes to those who control, deceive and terrorise us. May I ask how long we can accept this?

Can a soldier think? I had the doubt.
Bernad Shaw wrote, “I do not think a soldier can think!”

At school in 1960s I committed to memory Lord Tennyson’s poem
“Into the valley of death
Rode the six hundred….
Not though the soldiers knew
Some one had blundered
Theirs not to make reply
Theirs not to reason why
Theirs but to do and die..
Into the valley of death
Rode the six hundred….”

In late 1960s, we the youths all over the world revolted in the hope of Plato’s Democracy but got Roman Demoncracy instead. It makes me to tears whether the spirit of 1968 will be reincarnated in 2011 at the “Day of Rage World Wide” where Bradley Manning, who is younger than my children, is the vangurad. Hope is the last one can lose. Hope for the best and prepare for the worst! The Demons are sharpenning their knives! The kings and Dictators being suddely naked are shameless now!
