Hi Alex,
You can find some detailed information about mailing restrictions at Bradley’s facility at Bradleymanning.org (under About–>Write Bradley). Although there’s no specific mention of books, it’s our understanding that the guidelines are limiting (ie. only 6 sheets of paper at a time, max), which makes me think a book would be out of bounds. Will try to get more details for you and post here with what we can find. – Mike, Office Manager

It is difficult to understand why, after all the publicity that Bradley Manning’s case has received worldwide, the US Government are not doing everything in their power to reassure the american public and the rest of the world that they are going to give him a fair trial.

If any “enemy” country was behaving publicly the way the US Government are doing in Bradley Manning’s case, they would be condemning it as an abuse of human rights. Just the over 600 days in prison, with a large spell of solitary confinement and pretrial punishment should be enough to declare a mistrial.

However, as the trial draws near, US conduct is showing itself to be without integrity and the very antithesis of that of an advanced world power which believes in human rights.

There is very good reason to fear that this young man will never receive a fair trial.
