Called the brig back just now, confirmed and clarified the address for sending postal communication to Bradley Manning provided earlier in a comment here by John Boy:

As somebody who has been doing prisoner support for a while, I’d like to ask that people please keep in mind that when sending letters you need to be mindful not to get this prisoner in trouble. Even unsolicited mail can get them in trouble. I’m not sure what regulations at this particular spot are, but federal prisons have the following regulations:

*No staples, paperclips or other things that could be used as weapons
*No ink aside from black ink or pictures (photocopies are alright)
*No books unless from a publisher and no hard copies regardless

Also, do not say anything that could incriminate him. Remember that he allegedly leaked these videos and it’s up to the court to decide his guilt, not yours to be careful with your words.

Let’s fill up his cell with our love!

Thanks for that, anon, good advice. I spoke yesterday to an ex-service member who agreed to use his contacts to get a hold of the specific rules in force there, and send them to me. I’ll update this post when/if I get that information.

Just remember not to send any pornographic material, pork products, and such as the mail is screened and go by host countryu laws. Whatever you do, don’t put Kuwait on any part of the mailing address as it will go through the Kuwait Postal System and you will never receive it back. You can download the rules for mailing things on “Military Postal System”

    Dear Bradley

We know that you are in custody and we are all concerned that you have been held for some time now. We also do not know why you were transferred there rather than kept with your unit?

There is a support group forming and I guess you know this. We are keeping you constantly in our thoughts. The internet is keeping supporters informed of developments

Look forward to seeing this stupid matter resolved sensibly.

    Lots of Best Wishes

[...] * We’ve come to really admire Wikileaks and its founder, Julian Assange for their work getting out the truth that corrupt governments and corporations want to keep hidden. There is also an online effort to help Bradley Manning who has been arrested for being the alleged leaker of a video showing the U.S. military attacking and killing journalists and other unarmed civilians. You can send Bradley some encouragement via old-fashion mail. [...]

    Hi Bradley

I want to tell you that you are a real hero for telling the truth to everybody about this terrible war. Everyone but the government is for you. Only a bad government would hold you hostage.

Dear Bradley E. Manning, as a journalist I have – even without knowing you – in a German newspaper reported on your brave deed. For me you are the America that I love. For me you are a patriot, to America can be proud of.
My son is as old as you are today. He can take an example to your courage, your honesty, and to distinguish in your ability to right from wrong. Those who accuse you now, have not yet grasped the difference between good and evil. I hope that understand your military superiors that the betrayal may be a crime not a crime.
I greet you from Germany and I hope that you will soon be liberated. A peaceful world needs people like you.

The war has become a joke. American’s laughing while blowing human beings apart with their bullets. The military trains people to be killing machines, case in point.

    Dear Bradley,
Just want to let you know I am thinking of you, and can understand the way in which the American government works. I worked for the VA, in America, for 22+ years and saw many things tha should have never happened. I tried and tried to get someone to listen to the “real deal”, but could not find the right ear. I was told to be quiet, or I would “make things worse”, and my very dear friends were afraid I would lose my job. I was always up front with the veterans I served, telling them things the VA would never tell them, and being forbidden to do so.
Take care, never give up, and know that there are a lot of people in your corner.

I wrote to Private Manning at the 09366 address you and my letter just came back to me “Return to Sender — Addressee Unknown.”

Mike Gogulski says the new address is just below the red “donate” button. I don’t see a red button, but a blue one, and there’s no address below it. Please advise.

On July 22 I sent a letter of encouragement to Bradley Manning at the address given on this page. Today I was disappointed to receive the letter back again, with a black magic marker striking through his address. Also there was a stamp that said “Returned to Sender” with “Attempted–Not Known.”
Also on the front in big letters (black magic marker)were the lettrs RTS (return to sender.)
Do we know whether he is allowed to receive letters AT ALL?

    Dear Mr. Manning:

I simply want you to know how proud I am of you and of your service to the ends of justice as you made public what the U.S. military is doing in the Middle East. You will surely be remembered in the same breath as Daniel Ellsberg and the Pentagon Papers of the 1970s.

Exposing injustice, cruelties, and atrocities is ALWAYS the right thing to do though it takes extraordinary courage to do so. When he was facing execution in 1956 for storming Havana’s Moncada Barracks, headquarters of the military during the Batista dictatorship in Cuba, Fidel Castro said, “History will absolve me!” I don’t know what you think of Mr. Castro but I think his declaration is most relevant to you.

I am ashamed to admit that I served in the CIA in Vietnam, 1965-67, and I wish that I had the courage to have exposed some of the things I witnessed and “secret” documents I read at the time. People like you were rare then and are rare now.

I do hope that you will put me on your mailing list. And I hope that you’ll let me know if you need anything. Know that you’re my hero, Brad.

    In Solidarity,

    Jerry Kunz
Member, Veterans for Peace, Chapter 134, Tacoma, WA
