Bradley Manning Support Event, Vienna, Austria, 19 March 2011
An event was held on Saturday, 19 March 2011, in the Museumsquartier of Vienna in support of Bradley Manning. The event began at the Raum D facility provided by Quintessenz, a prominent freedom of information, privacy and freedom of speech advocacy organization. About 45 people attended.
Things got started with the presentation of a video incorporating scenes from Collateral Murder, produced Eve Bugs in collaboration with ichmachPolitik.at, an open new media platform for political work in Austria (event page).
A panel discussion followed, moderated (and interpreted) by Michael Parenti (@exiledsurfer). The panelists were psychologist Dr. Reinhold Allinger-Csollich, Bradley Manning Support Network founder Mike Gogulski and artist @lizvlx of ubermorgen.com.

Following the q&a session, a group of about 30 attendees bearing dozens of red glow-sticks took to the streets to visit the United States Embassy, escorted by two police vehicles, each of which carried four police officers. Upon arriving, those eight police officers combined with seven already on the scene, making the ratio about 0.7 cops per demonstrator, since several folks dropped out on the way.
The intent of the visit to the US Embassy was to deliver the letter below to the ambassador. However, the police refused to accept the letter. Likewise, they refused several attempts to give them free glow-sticks.
