I gather that the “defense fund” which is short $80,000 must total significantly more than that amount.
I would like to know where that money is going…. is getting justice in this case a matter of how much money is thrown at the problem?? Are the persons who are involved or needed to mount a defense only interested in the $$.. if not, what is the story/ background on this situation?? At the least let us who are out here and want to “help” be made aware of just what the numbers are, how it is proposed to be spent and where and why it is going to be needed.

While it is, indeed, not cheap to mount a legal defense squaring off against the full brunt of the gov’t prosecution, I think most people familiar with his background would say that Bradley’s civilian lawyer, David Coombs, is definitely not only “in it for the money.” He’s easy to find info about online, and I recommend reading his blog for a more detailed explanation of some of the legal moves and strategies he is preparing through the pre-trial hearings.
Sadly, no, the $80,000 is far from the full amount. We have already raised more than $200,000 for the campaign, using that money to fund Bradley’s legal defense and to mount an international educational and promotion effort to raise awareness and direct people to opportunities to support Bradley. This is why we so deeply value all of our supporters’ contributions, be they financial or otherwise.
To my mind it is of paramount importance that the best that can be done should be done by we the people so that the very soul and integrity of what justice is supposed to mean may be recovered in some measure by opposing these sinister efforts of the State to crush whistle-blowers and thereby the hopes of the innumerable military men and women, amongst others, who know that martial honour can never be recovered if exposure of atrocity is suppressed by the very institutions whose solemn duty is supposed to be to prevent it and otherwise take vigorous action against the perpetrators. If not, then no soldier will ever dare to stand up for the victims of atrocity or oppose it or report it to get it rooted out, and the message to the atrocitor is that he is the one who is doing the bidding of a State that will protect him not the principled man or woman who dare expose him, he is to be doomed and the State guilty of a great evil perpetrated not only against the many victims of atrocity but also the honour of its own decent people. What kind of creatures are in charge of our nations if the greater morality is held in such dismal contempt, and where are democratic rights and ethics that the west fought for now? Give all you can and support this fight, and let’s oppose such cynical suppression of possible moral action by the few men and women left with the courage to stand against it. Give them all you can and let them get on with it is my clarion cry!
