Update 3/27/12: Daniel Ellsberg at a whistle-blowers conference, WikiLeaks and freedom of the press, and livestreaming a play about Bradley

Daniel Ellsberg praises Bradley Manning at whistle-blowers conference. At Occupy the Truth’s whistle-blower conference, Pentagon Papers whistle-blower Daniel Ellsberg lauds Bradley Manning for, if doing what he’s accused of, shining light on grave abuses. He talks about his own case, and also about what we can do for Bradley, whom he calls a hero. The segment includes audio from the Collateral Murder video and comments from other soldiers, but Ellsberg’s talk begins just after the 13-minute mark:

The segment includes Chris Hedges, extradition lawyers, and commentary on the effect of a WikiLeaks prosecution on the freedom of the press. (Read more…)

The Wales production ‘The Radicalisation of Bradley Manning’ will be the “first hyperlinked theatre production.” The play, running April 12-28, is showing at schools across Wales, and video of the play will be livestreamed online:

Some performances of The Radicalisation of Bradley Manning will be live-streamed on a dedicated website –  nationaltheatrewales.org/bradleymanning. Alongside this live stream, the site will host hyperlinks to websites, videos and articles referred to in the script, and a live comment stream to which the audience will be encouraged to contribute. The site will be free to view and only available live alongside the stage performance.

National Theatre Wales calls this ‘hyperlinked theatre’ – a combination of a live online transmission of the performance, hyperlinks to background information, and an opportunity for the audience to interact through livechat.

Please watch the livestream and join the discussion! (Read more…)
