Update 3/28/12: Ellsberg speech on getting arrested for Bradley, Nozomi Hayase on supporting WikiLeaks

Daniel Ellsberg speaking out for Bradley Manning

Daniel Ellsberg speech set to video of WikiLeaks, Bradley Manning supporters. Ellsberg explains why it was worth getting arrested at the White House and then at Quantico to show public solidarity with accused whistle-blower Bradley Manning. The talk is set to video of supporters marching, chanting for Bradley, and later in handcuffs.

The video also includes the making of the WikiLeaks Truck, the ‘Mobile Information Collection Unit,’ created by artist Clark Stoeckley.

Nozomi Hayase gives an inspiring speech on the importance of WikiLeaks, entitled “We Are All We Need.” Describing herself as “one of the ordinary people whose life was changed by the Collateral Murder video,” Hayase explains how WikiLeaks and Bradley Manning gave her a voice, an opportunity to speak out against corporate oppression and governmental lies:

Andrew Castro covers the vigil held outside Ft. Meade for Bradley Manning. Recounting the various supporters who held signs outside the military base, Castro writes about why we should support Bradley:

Manning’s case is yet another example of the sham “justice” system in the U.S. At the motion hearing, Manning’s defense attorney, David Coombs, asked for the trial to be dismissed since the U.S. government failed to turn over documents and other evidence during the course of Manning’s detainment to prove that he was, in fact, guilty of leaking classified documents and cables.

Regardless of whether Manning leaked government cables, he should be set free immediately and recognized for standing up to the U.S. imperialist machine. The Empire’s criminal wars abroad are the greatest threat to humanity today and must be resisted by all people in the U.S. and around the globe.

Opposition to the war in Afghanistan is growing by the day, especially given the spate of recent atrocities there, from Marines urinating on corpses, to US soldiers burning Qur’ans, to Robert Bales allegedly murdering 17 civilians in the night. Castro’s article is a good reminder that it’s the war criminals, not the whistle-blower, who should be on trial. (Read more…)
