Update 4/24/12: DC metro ads, Bradley’s influence, and renewed calls for transparency

DC metro ad for Bradley Manning

Bradley Manning ads go up around the DC metro! Thanks to all of you who supported our ad campaign, 21 ads supporting Bradley Manning have begun to surface in the Washington DC metro system, forcing politicians and military officials to remember the Nobel Peace Prize nominee they continue to jail for exposing the truth. At right is a photo of one of the posters, courtesy of Natasha Mozgovaya (@mozgovaya), going up just as Bradley’s Article 29 hearing gets under way:

Thanks so much to all who donated to the ad campaign!

“What Bradley Manning means to us.” Quoting at length from Chase Madar’s new book, “The Passion of Bradley Manning,” antiwar activist David Swanson writes about the influence of Bradley Manning’s alleged releases to WikiLeaks:

Manning’s contribution has been global.  His revelations have benefitted the people of numerous nations with which the State Department communicated in the cables that Manning is said to have leaked.  The Arab Spring was not caused by Bradley Manning, but the information he made public has played a major role.

Expressing gratitude for Bradley’s alleged actions, Swanson writes,

Manning is not only the whistleblower who has told us the most, and the whistleblower who may suffer the most for his heroism, but also the whistleblower who revealed crimes and abuses that were also known by or knowable by the greatest number of other people — all of whom chose to remain silent.

Swanson will interview Madar soon, and likely publish that discussion at his site. (Read more…)

  2. I’m calling for 1 minute “switch off” in protest against war crimes and for Bradley Manning.

Do you feel like going out there and protest, but work/disability/duty of care/etc.. wouldn’t allow you? We all can protest in different forms. Every one of us can express disagreement!
