Last week, Kevin Gosztola was on Democracy Now! discussing Bradley Manning’s motion hearing. He detailed the prosecution’s efforts to avoid providing the defense the discovery documents it requested and the defense motions to dismiss some charges.
Op-Ed argues we should look at what whistle-blowers reveal, not prosecute them for bearing bad news. Mares Hirchert writes in the Livingston Daily that we should know what our government is doing, not punish the messenger for relaying inside information.
The 99 percent of us need to resist this War on Humanity, which is what a national security state really is. We need to back the leakers and the whistle-blowers, such as Bradley Manning, who are giving us the facts of what is going on behind closed doors.
Let’s have a conversation about the effects of war, the amount of money spent, the carnage, the destruction, the human suffering, the state of fear, the pain.
We don’t need a “War” on intelligence leaks; we need to start discussing intelligently what is really happening.
Bradley Manning is said to have revealed war crimes, blatantly illegal executions, untallied civilian deaths, and more – yet he is the one on trial instead of those exposed. (Read more…)
United States of America have always been an example of free democracy to the whole world, meaning tranparency of goverment action. In Northen European countries we respect this dimention in policy. Bradley Manning has implemented one of the basic principle of this tendency. He can not be punished for that. Please let Bradley Manning free. The world would be a better place if we all had his courage to speak freely.
