Bradley Manning’s lawyer has issued a statement regarding the Article 138 complaint against the former commander of the Quantico Brig that was responded to by the government yesterday. The Law Office of David E. Coombs states:

“[The determination that] CWO4 James Averhart did not exceed his authority or abuse his discretion when he kept PFC Manning isolated for 23 hours a day in Maximum Custody and under Prevention of Injury Watch….did not address PFC Manning’s amended Article 138 complaint against the current commander of the Quantico Brig, Chief Warrant Officer Denise Barnes. In the amended complaint, PFC Manning alleged that Chief Warrant Officer Barnes acted improperly when she ordered him to strip naked and surrender his clothing nightly”.

The military, essentially, is denying any wrong-doing in the torture of Bradley Manning using isolation and nudity. Coombs believes that Bradley’s move to Leavenworth and downgrading to medium custody show that the military acted improperly.

The Wikileaks revelations continue, and include information about drug trafficking in Central America and the corporate take over of America. In the article from Alternet, it is shown that Wikileaks has exposed diplomats pushing everything from Boing products to genetically modified seeds. It also reveals diplomatic maneuvering to ensure mining contracts in Latin America and diplomats generally acting as sales people to transnational corporations.
