Exposing war crimes is a duty, not a crime!

U.S. Citizens for Peace & Justice – Rome will be holding a flash-mob photo-op this Friday (Nov. 30) outside the U.S. Embassy in Rome, Italy, to say: “We are Bradley Manning!  Exposing war crimes is a duty, not a crime!”

It’s a work day so there will be just a handful of us.  But all our members have endorsed the action because all are convinced that Bradley is a hero, not a criminal.

Convicting Bradley would send the wrong signal to everyone working in places of power, i.e. “Close an eye to any wrongdoing you see.”  Instead, freeing Bradley will send the signal: “We are all responsible for keeping our democracy free of corruption and wrongdoing, by denouncing immediately any occurrences of these things.”  And THAT is the signal this trial should be sending.

  1. I agree that exposing war crimes is paramount, I don’t understand how exposing warcrimes involves endangering over 300 innocent Afghanistan nationals by releasing classified information concerning their dealings with our government.

What Bradley Manning did represented a complete disregard for the safety of hundreds of people, and seems to be borne out of boredom or childish anger rather than the heartfelt need to properly expose the truth. I hope the prosecuting attorney hits a home run with this one…

  2. Bradely Manning had a duty to report the killing of Iraqi civilians by U.S Army military pursuant to the declarations recited at the Nuernberg,Germany.WWII
    war criminal tribunals!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Sincerely,
Ray Bliss Disabled retired USAF Korean war veteran!
