The Bradley Manning Support Network has just been notified that the recommendations made last week by Lt. Col. Paul Almanza, who presided over last month’s Article 32 hearing, have been passed up the chain of command by Col. Carl R. Coffman Jr. This means that Lt. Col. Almanza, and now Col. Coffman, have decided that all charges against Bradley Manning — including the most odious charge of “aiding the enemy” — should be referred to a full military court-martial. At this moment, these recommendations now sit on the desk of Major General Michael S. Linnington, who represents an entity known as the General Court-Martial Convening Authority. He now has the final power to rubber stamp these recommendations, which would formally refer these charges and initiate the court-martial process.

We’re watching you and what you are doing is a crime. After what Bradley Manning was forced to watch and then doing the honorable thing in blowing the whistle on the army’s lies he at the very least deserves a FAIR TRIAL.

While this trial should be transparent, please be honorable and respectful to all US citizens and stop the show trial.
Please don’t acknowledge the allegations as if they are fact. Third party influence matters a lot in Manning’s prosecution. The government is prepared to use anything to make Manning the fall guy… At this point, speculation and innuendo will be treated as fact by the government.

I lived through the Vietnam War and saw the effort to prosecute Daniel Ellsberg for releasing the Pentagon Papers. Since when is embarrassing idiot diplomats and exposing the murderers of innocent civilians and journalists “aiding the enemy”? The Commander-in-Chief could end this trial if he wishes as he could have prevented it in the first place. We are now in a period of suppression of information to which we the citizenz are entitled that is unsurpassed in my lifetime of 75 years, and President Obama is condoning it. Sure, the Taliban are insurgents, as every patriotic American would be if a foreign power interfered in the internal political life of our country, siding with one religious faction over another. The only reason the Taliban kill Americans is the meddling of our government. The “commanders on the ground” will never end a war because they NEED wars to advance their careers. There is a new book out, “The Operators” that claims Obama has decided to begin acting like he is in charge, not”the generals”, and he could demonstrate that by freeing Bradley Manning, or, at least, reducing the charges to the level justified by the low level of classification the gov’t assigned the leaked info.
I can’t leave them a message…they won’t accept them. Any hints on how to get past their roadblocks online?

The idea that Manning would have “aided the enemy” because the leaked documents were published on the internet is patently absurd and sets a very dangerous precedent for journalism and for the free speech in general.
I am very disappointed in the government’s appalling mistreatment of Bradley Manning and continued attempts to paint him as a traitor. Please drop the ‘aiding the enemy’ charge against Bradley Manning immediately, and allow his defense team access to the critical evidence and testimony that they have so far been denied. The American military has their chain of command to follow, but it also has a Code of Conduct, a Moral Conscience and National and International Laws to follow. When military soldiers commit “crimes against humanity” by killing INNOCENT civilians and journalists and then laugh about it, I would expect someone in the military to expose that atrocity. For that, Bradley Manning should be commended, not condemned.
In America, both the military and the citizenry live under the Rule of Law (not rule of men) and under a democracy with laws protecting humanity – even in warfare. Therefore, when these laws are violated, the perpetrators involved in “crimes against humanity” need to be punished – not the truthtellers exposing these crimes. Bradley Manning is a truthteller and should be cleared of all charges and set free.
The military, governed by a constitutional democracy, needs to investigate the real criminals, the perpetrators of “crimes against humanity,” and also examine the CAUSES for these criminal activities in the first place.

The whole world is watching the United States deny human rights to one its own citizens, and a brave hero to me. The Commander In Chief campaigned for transparency in government, then convicted PFC Manning, without even a first hearing, by publicly declaring Manning committed a crime. Under military law, this is undue command influence – of the highest degree! How can the Private ever get a fair trial, when the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces has already told the world Brad is guilty!?
He finally gets a first hearing, but is denied witnesses & evidence. What a crock of crap!
If the information leaked was so critical as to be able to “aid the enemy” why was it assigned such a low security level?
At the very least, this case should be transferred out of military court, into the Criminal Justice System that provided a special prosecutor to investigate after Daniel Ellsberg exposed the Pentagon Papers.
At 55 years old, you won’t find me at Occupy Wallstreet, but I may organise a protest at the local Army Recruiting Center. I think these young men should know the constitution they (and The Commander In Chief) swear to defend, does not apply to them during their enlistment.

I completely agree with david lee, they are denying his rights witch clearly shows they don’t care about the constitutional rights of americans.People should go around the schools and colleges were the military recruit and post fliers up and talk to students and try to get them to not sign up.Let them know they would be fighting to have their own rights and their family and friends rights taken away.The united states of the free,not really!

Please drop the charge against Bradley Manning that state he was “aiding the enemy”. In my freshman year of college my journalism professor showed the Apache Helicopter video as an example of the importance of keeping the public aware. In Public Relations, it is important now that PR specialists keep the public aware and informed. This is a media issue, and publicity has also impacted Bradley’s right to a fair and speedy trial.
No one should be held accountable for the real acts of terrorism that criminals do and harm that can happen when we aren’t all held accountable for our actions. By keeping the public aware we create a safer environment for us all. Bradley was doing what he thought was right for the public, although I believe he wouldn’t do it again.
The information he may have given was not dangerous to the public, it made us aware of controversies that could have been resolved or approached with decency. His harsh treatment is similar to that of a serial rapist or murderer. It seems extremely cruel and unjust. The threat really is not against the officials in charge, but ordinary citizens. He was made an example of, but the problem is that it’s unlawful to make an example of someone who was misguided,
and who did no direct harm.
Bradley didn’t hurt anyone intentionally or anyone has been injured to my knowledge. What really hurts is that something would be swept under the rug even when people have been aware, just unheard. That sort of thing was inevitable to surface eventually, like Mkultra and all sorts of illegal operations that we are unaware of.
If PR was as backwards as it used to be, and people just sold products in order to deceive the public, there would be corruption abound and many sick and hurt people. This to me, is comparable to the case of Bradley Manning. I believe he is not a criminal, but if he were tried he should serve less than ten years. This sort of charge brought against him is a failing attempt to cover the tracks of an endless battle between the truth vs. deceit. As one people united we should stand for one another and for our United States.

According to transcripts of meetings that Manning allegedly had with hacker Adrian Lamo, he reveals that he had unrestricted access to a US Military Database of classified documents. Then, in one of Manning’s later accounts, he confesses that he has become disillusioned with the dominant military practices in which he was directly involved. This also happened to be around the time Manning was going through a period of emotional distress; having broken up with his boyfriend and contemplating gender transition (as acknowledged by facebook status updates)…The formation of his ultimate view of the military culminated in contemplating releasing the vast libraries he had downloaded from servers belonging to a top secret Military Network to which he had legal access. Then he went to WikiLeaks, and for a test, released documents detailing the profile of an Icelandic MP made by the US government. This made the US a subject of considerable scrutiny by the Icelandic government for a time, and upon seeing the effectiveness of the documents, believing that they might or might not deliberate a change for the better, Manning decided to release the rest of the cables. Also covered in the transcripts are Manning allegedly confessing to Lamo of the leak.
These transcripts blatantly reveal Manning’s true intentions and it was never to cause harm to the US or anybody for that matter… It was just an attempt by a law abiding citizen to hold the institutions accountable for their mess and to empower democracy by ensuring cognizance to the electorate. Even if he had released the documents genuinely to “aid” the US’s so called enemy, then statistically, it has been an EPIC FAIL, because who on Earth has been aided in doing anything to the United States of America?? No, seriously, what in the world has anybody done so far since cablegate to the united states that would classify them as an enemy of the US?? I’m sorry the US Military, I’m afraid the facts are just not with you this time. But then again, who needs facts right?? after all, you are the UNITED STATES military! bleh!!

I am speculating that because this government, administration and military have been illegally and mercilessly punishing whistleblowers, they now have to cover-up these violations of law. A most effective way to do that is to legalize that which was previously illegal. Therefore, they are using Bradley Manning as a scapegoat; they will probably find him “guilty,” and by doing so, they will send a forceful message to any future whistleblowers, activists and protesters: Watch out, or you could be next!

When I called the 202# for Linnington the Operator shared she’s receive the letters as well and all they do is take our name and that we called regarding Bradley Manning and for ward that information. Who she forwards that information to is unclear.

Even during wartime no one has a right to abuse anyone including the so-called enemies family, innocent civilians and the country’s infrastructure. Were all accountable for our behavior and actions. I’m vet from the Vietnam era and I would turn in anybody for atrocities or barbaric and brutal behavior, if there were more Bradley Manning’s in Vietnam, brutalities like the My Lai incident would probably not have occurred. It takes more courage to speak the truth and not go to war, and not listen to politicians,the military industrial complex, corporations and assorted war mongers who make all the profits but never die on the battlefield,I agree with Smedley Butler and have my own quote on a t-shirt that says, “war is legalized murder for profit”
