When hundreds of thousands of people take action online, those in power have no choice but to take notice. Last year, more than 500,000 people signed a petition on the Avaaz website demanding the military end its abusive, torturous treatment of Bradley Manning at the Quantico Marine Brig. Shortly thereafter, Bradley was moved to Ft. Leavenworth, KS.
Bradley is treated much better at Ft. Leavenworth, yet he’s still deprived of his due process rights. Though promised a “speedy trial,” he’s spent more than 800 days in prison without court martial. President Obama has illegally declared him guilty before a trial even began. The prosecution has prevented the defense from showing the lack of harm from WikiLeaks’ releases. More to the point, Bradley is a heroic whistle-blower who believed the American public deserved to know what their government does at war and in secret. He shouldn’t be on trial in the first place.

Sign our petition and share it widely. Bradley put his future on the line for a transparent government and a better democracy. Now he needs you to call on U.S. officials to do the right thing.
Please stop this stain on American and World justice. If our war crimes are so great that we can not even look in a “mirror” anymore, then it is time to Change. Thank You Bradley Manning.

US military men in a helicopter gunship murder innocent people, and nothing is done to bring them to justice. But the man who reported it is facing a life long sentence? Release him now!
Under the laws of our constitution Bradly Manning should of been free all along..At the very least he should of been arrested , charged and released to stand trial…His treatment of torture, denial of an attorney or visitors and perminent prison time by our own government reduses us to the standing of a banana republic with a dictator in charge..Blowing the whistle on war crimes our own Gov. commited makes him a hero..The people who have commited crimes against humanety and war crimes should be jailed, not Bradly Manning….Peace
Free Bradley Manning is one of the few American heroes, and deserves to be freed. His actions are courageous in the persuit of truth

What I saw on the video of the helicopter firing indiscriminately at a group of men and, later, firing at the van and the people trying to help one of the wounded men was nothing more than acts of cowardice and thirst for blood. Bradley Manning is a true American hero for letting the world know about these shameful acts. Free Bradley Manning.
Although I am unwilling to become a member of the “Avaaz.org community” I am a member of the Bradley Manning’s support network and I agree with Daniel Ellsberg that …
- Bradley was held in pre-trial solitary confinement for 11 months, in conditions condemned by the UN Rapporteur on Torture as “cruel, inhuman and degrading,”
- Both President Obama and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Dempsey have declared publicly, prior to trial, that Bradley “broke the law.”
- Article 10 of the UCMJ promises defendants a speedy trial … his court-martial trial has yet to start.
- The prosecution has withheld key evidence
And I call on Judge Lind to acknowledge the outrageous government conduct in Bradley’s case, and dismiss the charges against him, and tell President Obama to pardon him in the event of any conviction!

Don’t blame the messenger for the message! We’re supposed to be more civilized than that.
The abhorant treatment of this hero makes me sick and enbassassed to be an American. how is it that we tell ourselves and other countries that we are “…the land of the free and the home of the brave” , that we are just and should be enbraced when we commit war crimes AGAINST our own people. i have always been proud to be an American but this is the last straw. until Bradly Manning is FREE, this is one American who can no longer sing The Star Spangled Banner. God forgive America is my new anthem.
